Configuring Findings for JAMF Smart Groups

Amplifier creates security findings that need resolution based on JAMF Smart Group exceptions. To enable which Smart Groups in your JAMF environment need to be actioned upon, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the “Integrations & Policies” tab.
  2. Navigate to your installed JAMF integration panel by clicking the "Configure" button.
  3. Scroll down to the “SMARTGROUP FINDINGS” accordion on this page. All `User` and `Computer` Smart Groups will sync within 24 hours of saving credentials.
  4. Scroll through the list of JAMF Smart groups and set the value of `Status` to ‘ENABLED’ for all the smart groups for which Amplifier monitor and remediate with user engagements.
  5. Once a group is `ENABLED`, an configure button appears on the row to access findings configurations. Use this to optionally update the following fields.
    1. ‘Severity’ - dictates the priority in which Ampy will engage
    2. ‘Description’ - helps in better engagement experience from Ampy.
  6. Once Smart Group findings have been enabled on Amplifier, membership changes for the group will create or close findings within Amplifier. Amplifier creates findings for all members of a smart group and closes them when the member leaves the group. Amplifier's platform leverages the data graph to connect devices to users and engage users via messages in their relevant chat platform (Slack/Teams).
  7. Few points to note :
    1. Deactivating an Enabled Smart Group will automatically resolve any open Amplifier findings
    2. ‘Refresh Jamf Smart Groups’ button kicks off an immediate sync to pull the most up to date Smart Groups from JAMF. This is RARELY needed since the Amplifier platform pulls the data automatically on scheduled intervals.
  8. The Findings generated from Jamf Smart Groups can be viewed under ‘Security Findings’ Page with a prefix of ‘Jamf Smart Group’
