Setting up a JAMF Webhook

Created by Thomas Donnelly, Modified on Mon, 18 Nov at 6:00 PM by Shreyas Sadalgi

Estimated Time to Complete: 5 minutes

Product: JAMF

Note: The following instructions assume that your JAMF cloud tenant has existing Computer Smart Groups set up. For example Smart Groups and their configuration criteria, see Create Jamf-Recommended Smart Groups.

Amplifier leverages JAMF Smart Groups as triggers to engage relevant end users (to whom the computer belongs to) and take remediation actions to resolve the exception related to the Smart Group. Amplifier collaborates with end users where they work (Slack, Teams, Browser, Email, etc) in a human friendly way to empower them to flexibly resolve the exception with existing IT & Security tools. The Smart Group triggers and resolution actions can be setup in Amplifier Engagement Studio where you can design end user engagements

By default, Amplifier creates findings when a computer is added to a Smart Group and automatically resolves the finding on removal from the same group. Note that the minus symbol (-) may be placed before a Smart Group’s name to invert this logic, so that findings are created when a member leaves the group and are resolved upon addition.

  1. Log into the Jamf web console and search for ‘webhooks’ in the Jamf Settings tab.

  2. Hit the New button to create a new webhook, and fill out the fields.

    1. The
Display Name can be set to ‘Amplifier Webhook’ or another of your choosing.

    2. The
Webhook URL can be retrieved from your Amplifier tenant by visiting the Integrations and Policies tab, clicking the Configure button on the Custom Findings panel, and copying the value from the Webhook Credentials section. Note that ?amp-provider=jamf parameter must be appended to the URL in this field.

    3. The
Content Type must be set to the JSON option.

    4. The
Webhook Event should be set to SmartGroupComputerMembershipChange.

    5. The
Target Smart Computer Group can be used to choose one or all existing Smart Groups to alert on.

  3. After hitting the Save button, your webhook is ready to begin sending Jamf Smart Group events to the Amplifier application.
